CommunityWorks opens women's business center in Greenville

As one of seven new women’s business centers across the country opened its doors for the first time in Greenville, national and local business leaders gathered on Sept. 4 onsite to celebrate the state’s female entrepreneurs. Small business lender and nonprofit CommunityWorks was also granted an award at the event.

Midlands Tech joins transatlantic workforce program

Midlands Technical College is now a member of the Transatlantic Business & Investment Council, which promotes trade and investment between North America and Europe.

Ogle to take over as 2021 PGA Championship Director

After Scott Reid stepped down in July as director of the golf event, Ryan Ogle is relocating to Kiawah Island to pick up where Reid left off starting Monday. Ogle expects the 2021 event to top the $193 million economic impact from 2012. Ogle previously was the youngest director of a major PGA championship in nearly 30 years when he took up the mantle for the 2016 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, held in Michigan. He served as director of that event again in 2018 and 2020.

Three SCDNR projects receive historic preservation funds

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources will use the federal grants to support three projects, including two in Georgetown County, which were damaged during Hurricane Irma in 2017.

New housing program offers incentives in rural counties

Participants in SC Housing’s County First initiative may qualify for a low interest rate loan and $8,000 in forgivable down payment assistance. Mortgage loans are for 30 years, and the program may not be used for refinancing.
