| Mar 4, 2024 | | | | | | Dear Voornaam, Angus Robertson has been setting out the SNP's latest independence paper today - this time around international relations and defence. This is tricky ground as the party is committed to removing nuclear weapons from Scotland, something which Mr Robertson insists would not be a barrier to joining Nato. Others may well disagree. Mr Robertson also spoke about plans for a Scottish Security and Intelligence Agency. Political Editor Alistair Grant was at the launch and you can read his piece here. Education Correspondent Calum Ross meanwhile has been examining plans for school closures in rural parts of Scotland as councils look towards rationalisation to save funds. As he reports today there are fears the move would risk ripping the “heart and soul” out of fragile communities The Budget is looming of course on Wednesday, and Westminster Correspondent Alexander Brown has all the key information here. In sport, the build-up begins in another Six Nations week. Rugby Correspondent Graham Bean reports Gregor Townsend has freshened up his squad for the match against Italy in Rome by calling up four new players. Three drop out, among them WP Nel. Have a great evening Alan | |
