Feb. 26: The past, present and future of science fiction

6 p.m. at Makris Lobster, 354 Sheep Davis Road, Concord

The world has changed since cyberpunk came along, not to mention since the days when Asimov, Clarke and Heinlein ruled, so what does that mean for science fiction? What is the current and future status of the stories and novels that act as a gateway to science for so many people? Is it still relevant – and if so, how?

Panelists: Dr. Larry Beemer, UNH professor of English who teaches a course in science fiction; Dr. Eric Schaller, professor of biology at Dartmouth College and science fiction editor and critic; Aidan Sonia-Bolduc, library page at Concord and Hooksett public libraries.

Science Cafe is held at Makris Lobster and Steak Restaurant, 354 Sheep Davis Road (Route 106), from 6 to 8 p.m., on fourth Wednesday of the month.

Reservations are required; call 225-7665.
