For at least one day, all was quiet on the LSU football front — no staff departures, no player departures, no new additions and no new commitments. All those things will likely change soon. Brian Kelly, of course, must fill out his staff — remember, he’s still missing two coordinators — and the early signing period begins Wednesday. In the meantime, our Scott Rabalais has a few thoughts on what Kelly’s been up to: He must be allowed to do it his way, with the people he wants. If Kelly wins with a staff of mostly unfamiliar assistants, he will have done great. If he were to keep Kevin Faulk, Corey Raymond and Tommy Moffitt and didn’t win enough, Kelly would be a failure. Elsewhere … It’s time for more basketball. Will Wade’s team faces Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday, fresh from a blowout win over Ohio in which he still wasn’t pleased. Sheldon Mickles has more on that, plus what to expect Saturday. Also: The Tigers themselves didn’t get what they expected en route to Atlanta. Sheldon has more on LSU’s longer-than-expected trip.
