Joann Lublin speaks the truth about daughters and mothers in her interview in today’s Recruitment & Retention story. Our young women would be wise to learn from our experiences. My daughter and I have discussed this. She hears me out when I give her advice, but I can tell -- just by watching her face -- when she’s planning not to do what I’m suggesting. “Look, you don’t have to do what I’m telling you, but I have been in this spot. Mama got a brain -- maybe you want to heed that.”

She’ll nod and smile politely and “Thanks Mom!” me before scampering away. I just sigh and shake my head.

And wonder how many times my own mother did the same at me.
