American Public Television (APT) is providing Seats at the Table for broadcast to all interested public tv stations across the country beginning this summer. APT is the leading syndicator of high-quality, top-rated programming to the nation’s more than 350 public television stations.

At this point we have over 180 stations which have committed to airing the film along with the World Channel, public television’s premier news, science and documentary channel, which means the film will be provided to over 70% of the US population.  While we expect most of the stations will air the film during the “back-to-school” period next August and September, we already have six stations which will be showing the film in the next two months:

Every station has the right to show Seats at the Table as many times as they’d choose over the next two years.
 

As a reminder. Seats at the Table is a portrait of a unique college class which connects university students with residents of a juvenile prison through the study of Russian literature, truly changing the lives of both groups of youth. Our mission is to use the film inspire broader replication of this educational model in communities across the country and beyond so that more of our youth can benefit from this transformative experience.

Before events were postponed due to COVID-19, we were able to have two wonderful screenings in Boston, one at Harvard University and the other at Boston College. Here’s what Susan Hackley, the Managing Director of Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation, which hosted a screening, had to say after seeing the film.

"Seats at the Table" is a poignant and important film that illuminates the bond that can develop among young people having a shared experience - in this case, college students and young men in a correctional center studying Russian literature.  The film is an excellent catalyst for discussion on empathy and human rights, and a wonderful tribute to an imaginative and trail-blazing teacher.
