SECOND PHASE OF ENTRY FOR THE INAUGURAL
HAUTE ROUTE VENTOUX OPENS TODAY
With the first 100 places for the inaugural Haute Route Ventoux now sold out, event organisers OC Sport have opened the second phase of registrations.

>From today bibs for the next 150 places on the event, which features a single race village in one location and three days of racing culminating each day in an ascent of Mt Ventoux, will be available at the discounted price of €645.

This price point is available for the next 150 riders to sign-up. The price will rise for a second time at midnight CET on December 22nd, or whenever the 150 places available are sold out – whichever comes first. Sign up here.

“Following our very successful test event last month, the take-up for the first ever Haute Route Ventoux has been hugely encouraging with riders from all over Europe and further afield expressing real excitement about the concept,” said Benjamin Chandelier, Event Director for the Haute Route. “Now is the time to book your slot to secure one of the remaining places.”

The Haute Route Ventoux will be staged from 6-8 October 2017. Inspired by the success of the main Haute Route Series – the Haute Route Pyrenees, Alps, Dolomites and Rockies – this new event offers amateur cyclists the chance to enjoy all the key attributes of those events but over a shorter time and based from one location.

Celebrating perhaps cycling’s most iconic mountain rising above the Rhône valley in Provence, the Haute Route Ventoux will include a total distance of 270km of cycling and over 7,500 metres of climbing over three stages including an Individual Time Trial. The full course details will be announced in January.
THE TEST EVENT PROVES A BIG SUCCESS
Frenchman Gregory Delbaere was one of around 20 riders who took part in the test event in early October. "I love this new concept,” he said. “It’s great for people who want to challenge themselves over a weekend. The Ventoux is just iconic. Climbing all three sides in just three days is really special - not many people can say they’ve done that. On top of that, riding in the foothills around the Ventoux allowed us to discover and enjoy one of the most picturesque areas of France."
For the Irishman John McKenna, the easy logistics and the rider support services provided by the Haute Route organisation are essentials. “Staying at the same place without moving your stuff everyday is perfect for me. And with the services put in place by the Haute Route we were perfectly set-up to ride in a safe environment and recover in the evening for the following stages. All you have to do is ride your bike and enjoy the scenery around you.”
