INDUSTRY NEWS

HOBOKEN, NJ: In honor of Autism Awareness Month, Carousel Connections is hosting a virtual 5K. Any time during the month of April, participants are encouraged to take a picture of themselves running, walking or getting outside and post it to the company’s Facebook page. All proceeds will go directly to Carousel Connections, an organization that supports individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing employment, volunteer, social and recreational opportunities.

LAS VEGAS: Green Valley Ranch has transformed its lobby patio into a seasonal space and outdoor pop-up lounge called The Backyard at Sundown, complete with picnic tables under a canopy of bistro lights. The lounge is open every Friday and Saturday and is serving up photo-worthy cocktails accompanied by a menu of shareable snacks from the Terrace Bites menu. Highlights include A Thousand Blossoms with St-Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon, soda and prosecco alongside a charcuterie board.

LOS ANGELES: Cherry blossoms are in full bloom at Descanso Gardens in La Caada Flintridge. Because cherry blossom season is fleeting, guests are encouraged to come see the Akebono and Beni Hoshi varieties of the tree on the property’s Japanese Gardens before the first week of May. The garden is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Tickets for nonmembers must be reserved online in advance and start at $15 for adults.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: World Polo League Beach Polo is hosting a three-day tournament April 23-25 between 21st and 22nd Streets on the sands of South Beach at Collin Park. The tournament will also feature a celebrity polo match to benefit the organization Give Back for Special Equestrians. Tickets are now available on the Miami Polo Cup’s website.

SOUTH WALTON, FLA: Hotel Effie opened in February between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay. The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort property boasts 250 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space, as well as an upscale spa, fitness center and rooftop pool.
