NATIONAL: Metallica will be hosting a drive-in concert as the newest act in the Encore Drive-In Nights concert series. Beginning on Aug. 29 with the band's first concert of 2020, the group will travel to drive-in and outdoor theaters across North America. Every ticket purchase will include four digital downloads of Metallica’s S&M2 album. LOS ANGELES: The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company, a Los Angeles-based non-profit, launched its first Virtual Create-A-Thon fundraiser on Aug. 10. Running for seven weeks, the event aims to inspire creating and sharing at home, while raising funds to expand its theater-arts programming for underserved youth and families. The fundraiser is hosted by actress and comedian Melissa Peterman with support from celebrity and entertainment influencers in the Los Angeles arts community such as Steve and Nancy Carell, Lil Dicky, and more. NEW YORK: The Poetry Coalition, a network of over 25 poetry organizations from across the nation, is hosting One Poem: A Protest Reading in Support of Black Lives on Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. via live broadcast. During the free event, poets will share a poem in support of Black lives. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute funds to support organizations nationwide working against injustice. |
