Go inside Louisiana political drama

with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Good morning! Here are some of our top stories from yesterday.

Inside the Louisiana political drama

Democrats in the Louisiana Legislature have been pushing for a second majority-Black Congressional district, but Republicans are advancing a map that leaves one such seat.

Questions are buzzing in the Capitol about whether Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, will veto the map. But there's also drama within Edwards' own party over one state representative who crossed party lines to vote for the Republican map.

1,500 convictions in limbo?

Louisiana was one of the last states to allow people to be convicted of serious crimes by non-unanimous juries, which means an estimated 1,500 inmates are still in jail from those convictions.

Yesterday, the Louisiana Supreme Court said it would take up a case arguing those convictions are unconstitutional and should be thrown out, following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the issue.

After 50 years, what's the PMAC's future?

Over the past 50 years, Pete Maravich Assembly Center at LSU has been a basketball arena, a concert hall, and even a field hospital. But it's starting to show its age.

We talked to administrators and fans who have been going since Pistol Pete Himself was playing about what the PMAC's future might be.
