1. The Bachelor mansion, and longtime host Chris Harrison, now are available for weddings, corporate conferences, seminars, team building workshops, and more. Located in the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu, the Villa de la Vina features 10,000 square feet of interior space and 20,000 square feet of exterior space. Bustle: “To hire Harrison to officiate their wedding, fans need to fill out a form on his website with the following information: contact information, wedding date, wedding venue, and details of the wedding. As his website notes, Harrison has been an ordained minister since 2012 with Universal Life Church. Available for U.S. (yes, that includes Hawaii) and international destination weddings, Harrison ‘customizes each of his weddings to the couple,’ as per his website.”

2. SOUTH AFRICA’S MISS UNIVERSE WIN CAPS A HISTORIC YEAR FOR BLACK WOMEN IN PAGEANTS: Sunday’s win at Miss Universe by Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, capped off a triumphant year for black women on the pageant circuit. The 2019 Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and, as of Sunday, Miss Universe contests for the first time all crowned a black woman. Tunzi is the first black woman to win Miss Universe since Leila Lopes in 2011. Yahoo: “Tunzi’s crowning win is notable for many reasons. For one, she chose to flaunt her natural hair—a chic, cropped, textured cut not uncommon to black women everywhere, but definitely uncommon within the pageant world—taking a stand against antiquated beauty standards for black women. ‘I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me—with my kind of skin and my kind of hair—was never considered to be beautiful,’ Tunzi said during her closing address. ‘I think it is time that stops today.’”

3. FRONTIER AIRLINES WORKERS SUE CARRIER FOR DISCRIMINATION: In a pair of lawsuits filed yesterday by the American Civil Liberties Union, four Frontier Airlines pilots and four flight attendants are suing the carrier for pregnancy discrimination. In the complaint, employees write that Frontier failed to provide basic accommodations for pregnant employees, which forces pilots and flight attendants into unpaid leave before their due dates and prevents them from breast feeding. Women generally need to pump once every two to four hours but Frontier flights—which carry U.S. passengers from coast to coast, and to Central and South America—are often as long as five or six hours, and that’s before delays. The Lily: “‘If you’re prohibited from pumping while on duty, you are essentially prohibited from breast-feeding,’ said Galen Sherwin, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU women’s rights project. ‘You cannot physically go that long.’”

4. NETFLIX DOMINATED GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS: Streaming giant Netflix was the big winner Monday during the announcement of the nominees for the 77th Golden Globe Awards. The content provider picked-up a staggering 17 movie nominations—34 overall across TV and film—including six for Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story, the most of any movie. Several other streaming services scored nominations, while notable snubs included the wildly popularGame of Thrones and, for direction, Greta Gerwig, who led the Little Women revival, which has received good reviews. In fact, women were entirely shut out of the direction category, though five male directors will be honored at the ceremony, which is set to take place on January 5, 2020 at the Beverly Hilton hotel. The New York Times: “‘The reveal here is a bias against female leadership,’ said Stacy L. Smith, an associate professor at the University of Southern California who studies the underrepresentation of women and minorities in Hollywood. The nominated directors were Quentin Tarantino, Todd Phillips, Sam Mendes, Bong Joon Ho, and Martin Scorsese.”

5. DUCT-TAPED BANANA IS TALK OF ART BASEL: Despite the elaborate works, glamorous parties, and scenic Miami backdrop, Art Basel 2019 was upstaged by simple foodstuff—a banana. More specifically, the yellow fruit was pinned to a wall with duct tape as a piece by artist Maurizio Cattelan, and sold for $120,000 to $150,000 in each of three sales during the event, which was held December 3 to December 8 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The star of the show caused such a commotion that by the last day of the fair, Cattelan and his gallery removed the banana from its booth. But not all attendees were left hungry for more: Performance artist David Datuna pulled the banana off the wall and ate it. New York Times: “The gallery’s statement said, ‘Art Basel collaboratively worked with us to station guards and create uniform lines. However, the installation caused several uncontrollable crowd movements and the placement of the work on our booth compromised the safety of the artwork around us, including that of our neighbors.’... Mr. Datuna made light of his action in an Instagram post he titled ‘Hungry Artist,’ writing: ‘Art performance by me. I love Maurizio Cattelan artwork and I really love this installation. It’s very delicious.'"
