The former owner of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder, and his wife, Tanya Snyder, have donated their opulent, chateau-style mansion along the bank of the Potomac River in Maryland’s Rockville area to the American Cancer Society, which hopes to sell the property for close to its final asking price of just under $35 million. Among the 13.5-acre spread’s many creature comforts are a 25,000-square-foot residence with vast reception rooms and a sumptuous primary suite with dual baths, along with a three-story guesthouse, a showroom-style garage, and a guard house. Modernist architect Craig Ellwood designed many noteworthy homes throughout Los Angeles, and one of his hillside treasures in the Brentwood neighborhood has popped up for sale at $3.5 million. Built in the late 1950s and floating high above the ground, the steel and glass structure is still known as the Smith House, after its first owner.
