See what bills the Legislature approved this week

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Jobless aid, teen workers: State lawmakers have signed off on a bill that would cut unemployment benefits for all workers and remove lunch breaks for teen workers, James Finn reports. The bill heads to the governor's desk for his signature.

Immigration law: A proposal to let state and local police detain immigrants is steps away from becoming law, though whether it can take effect depends on a court ruling, Meghan Friedmann reports.

Abortion pills: State lawmakers have approved a bill that would classify abortion-inducing drugs as controlled substances, Emily Woodruff reports. Possessing the drugs without a prescription could mean a prison sentence.

Protest bills: Lawmakers have approved a bill to create a 25-foot buffer zone around police, among other bills supporters say are aimed at public safety, Friedmann reports. Critics say the bills could limit protests and police scrutiny.
