Jeff Landry's plan to redraw congressional districts advances

Redistricting: U.S. Rep. Garret Graves’ congressional district would be turned into a Black-majority seat under legislation backed by Gov. Jeff Landry that passed its first hurdle Tuesday, Tyler Bridges and Meghan Friedmann report. 


See the maps: Lawmakers over the next week will consider several plans to redraw Louisiana's congressional district map to create a second Black-majority district. See which proposals are being considered. 


Closed primaries: Gov. Jeff Landry's push to change the state's elections system took a step forward Tuesday, as a state House committee backed that plan over some objections. Under the proposal, independent voters would be ineligible to vote in state primary elections, unless the state's major political parties allow them do so, James Finn reports. See the
