Seeking justice in bizarre murder saga. And will the Saints say hello, Honey Badger?

By Bob Warren

Proper justice and street justice: Readers have been voraciously following our stories about a possible case of “street justice” stemming from a double murder last year. John Simerman has the latest on the saga today, a story about how the case has left two families now searching for "proper justice."

Spending campaign money: Over the past 15 years, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has sent more than $400,000 in campaign money to a staffing company he owns. Andrea Gallo takes a look at some of those expenses.

Sweet as Honey (badger)? Yesterday we reported that Saints defensive back Malcolm Jenkins is retiring. So will that open a roster spot for, drumroll please, former St. Augustine and LSU star Tyrann Mathieu? Maybe, depending on your reading of the Twitter tea leaves.

Tornado redux: For the second time in eight days, we spent a white-knuckled evening glued to our screens and watching the wind whip outside. A line of severe weather rolled across the metro last night. It spawned at least a couple of tornadoes - including one near Big Branch that took an eerily similar path to the March 22 twister in St. Tammany Parish. Thankfully, there were no reports of damage or injuries on the scale of what happened in Arabi last week.

Hoggin' for the cause: Hogs for the Cause, the festival and cookoff that celebrates all things pork, opens Friday at UNO's Lakefront Arena. Our food guy Ian McNulty is all over it, you might even say he's going, uh, whole hog. (Sorry - not sorry!)

Flau’jae Johnson time: LSU made a big splash when it hired Kim Mulkey as its women’s basketball coach last year. An even bigger splash could be on the way. Flau’jae Johnson, a heralded recruit who is also an accomplished enough rapper to sign with Jay-Z’s label, will join the team next season. Johnson, by the way, boasts nearly 700,000 Instagram followers.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for more news throughout the day.
