When Jason McFarland started coughing up blood, the 42-year-old police officer and father of three never suspected it could be cancer.

But Jason had a tumor wrapped around his pulmonary artery — stage IIIA lung cancer — and his doctors in Illinois told him, "It’s going to take a herculean effort to survive this."

That's when a friend advised, "If I were you, I’d be in Texas." So Jason and his wife flew to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his new surgeon gave him hope.

Thanks to caring people like you, MD Anderson provides dads like Jason — and all cancer patients — with leading-edge treatment.

Please give today to honor the father figures in your life.

Doctors at MD Anderson removed Jason's tumor and part of his lung. Later, he had to return to complete his treatment with radiation therapy. Jason and his dad rented an RV and made the trip together.

Today, Jason is cancer-free and back to police work.

This Father's Day, please give to MD Anderson. You'll help fund innovative research and improve treatment for cancers that claim men's lives.

Thank you in advance for your support. Your generosity helps give families facing cancer a chance to celebrate Father's Day for years to come.
