Back to the beach: An ambitious plan to revitalize Pontchartrain Beach along the lake in New Orleans came under some scrutiny last night during a public presentation. One question asked: Why is the Pontchartrain Beach Foundation planning to charge admission?
Bridge City to Angola: Following a series of escapes and other problems at the Bridge City juvenile jail, some nearby residents and Jefferson Parish officials have demanded its closure. Not gonna happen. But Gov. John Bel Edwards said there are some things the state will do to make make the Bridge City facility safer.
Bridge blues: The state has closed a couple of old bridges over the west and middle branches of the Pearl River along a remote stretch of U.S. 90 in eastern St. Tammany Parish. There’s no word on when the bridges will reopen, but their closure is being felt by people who live and work in that area, Sara Pagones reports.

Another one gone: Add Sam’s Po-Boys to the “ain’t dere no more” list. For six decades the shop in Old Jefferson served up po-boys and lunch specials to a devoted and satisfied clientele.
