By KELLY P. KISSEL More bad weather is headed toward Louisiana. It should arrive Tuesday, and be strongest southeast of a line from near Lafayette to Baton Rouge to Kentwood, according to forecasters. Outside of southeastern Louisiana, there's a threat elsewhere in Louisiana, too. Forecasters are most concerned about a chance of tornadoes and damaging winds. Large hail should be rare tomorrow, but there could be some heavy rains at times.
Gov. John Bel Edwards has called a special legislative session. Lawmakers are expected back in Baton Rouge to take a stab at the property insurance crisis. A number of firms have bailed out after a series of disastrous storms in recent years.
East Baton Rouge school leaders are contemplating changes in how its committees are set up. For the past 13 years, it's used a "committee of the whole" to review matters before taking things up at a regularly scheduled meeting. Now it's looking at the use of subject-specific panels that would include non-voting members from the public. |
