In the face of plastic pollution, how to decipher good ideas vs. false beliefs?

On the occasion of the European Week for Waste Reduction, Surfrider Europe analyses several preconceived ideas about plastic pollution. In a world where we are overwhelmed by information, it is not always easy to make a clear distinction between the real and false solutions proposed.

Concerned by plastic pollution, we all have a role to play

For the past European Waste Reduction, Surfrider Europe addressed several ‘false beliefs’ that are being circulated as solutions to ocean plastic pollution. The main message of the campaign was to explain that advancing technologies alone will not solve the plastic crisis.

Surfrider Europe sees increased corporate engagement in 2019

Corporate Awareness Days (JSE) is a service that Surfrider Europe offers to companies who wish to improve their employees’ sense of environmental awareness, while at the same time creating a fun and engaging team building experience.

Save the surf, Protect the Ocean !

During the last MEO – Rip Curl Pro Portugal, World Surf League’s event which was held from October 16th to 28th in Portugal, Surfrider Peniche set up a tubular wave made of trash on the Supertubos beach where the championship took place. The aim of the installation was to sensitize a public who came to observe surfers in their playground to what their waves could look like in the next few years if nothing it’s done. Volunteers raised awareness on ocean protection and educated audiences on the impacts of marine litter!

Ocean Initiatives and Transat Jacques Vabre

On the occasion of the Transat Jacques Vabre on Saturday October 27th, Surfrider Seine-Maritime organized a debate about the former costal discharge Dollemard and led an Ocean Initiative on Le Havre’s beach which inaugurated the area’s first tide tanks to collect litter found on the beach. This Ocean Initiative was done with the participation of the Surfrider Europe Ambassador, and Transat’s competitor, Paul Meilhat and 120 citizen participants!
