Water quality: the results are in
Clean water is one of the three principle missions of Surfrider Europe's fight for a protected ocean and the safety of its users. This summer, a public survey was launched to help us better understand how our community interact with bathing sites and generate personal testimonies on cases of water contamination. The goal of this work is to strengthen our expertise in this area and urge policy makers to improve bathing water quality regulations.

Baden-Pfalz chapter back on the streets The Surfrider Baden Pfalz chapter was back on the streets this year on Parking Day in Mannheim. An annual event that encourages residents to take to the streets for a day with themed stands. Surfrider Baden Pfalz chose to present the results of their anti-cigarette butts campaign along the Rhine "RHEINKIPPEN". To attract the attention, a column with 120.000 cigarette butts collected at the time of ocean initiatives was present, which attracted a great number of passers-by. That also made it possible to the walkers to express themselves vis-a-vis with the problems of the butts via constructive exchanges with the chapter’s volunteers. A “garland of shame” made in unique packaging of fruit juice of the Capri Sun brand, (composed of plastic and aluminum) also made a lot of people talk. In response, the producer threatened to double the production of this packaging... The fight continues. |

Apér’Océan in music in Landes We do not change the good habits for the Surfrider Landes chapter which organized last Friday, September 11th its famous Apér'Océan at JOE&JOE Hossegor (France, 40). It was an opportunity to come and meet them, to discover their next actions after a hectic summer and to enrich its knowledge on the protection of our beaches and waterways. A voluntary photographer from the chapter proposed postcards made by him, and whose profits were 100% donated to the association (the postcards are always available on order). About twenty participants discovered the association that evening under the soft background sound of a local DJ. |
