Private equity’s healthcare investments are coming under regulatory scrutiny in the US like never before, so we spoke to Bevin Newman at law firm Sheppard Mullinto find out more about the increasing glare as well as what dealmakers should do to make sure they don’t fall foul of the rules.
PE firms are focused on add-ons in these challenging dealmaking times, including in healthcare, where an Aterian Investment Partners portfolio company has made an add-on in the medical device industry.

Surgical addition
Sticking with healthcare, Aterian Investment Partners portfolio company Vantedge Medical has acquired Hobson & Motzer, a maker of precision medical devices for the global surgical market headquartered in Durham, Connecticut.

Spare interest
Elsewhere in add-ons, BBB Industries, which is backed by Clearlake Capital, has acquired All Star Auto Parts, an Orlando-based provider of alternative automotive replacement parts. The seller was Atlantic Street Capital.
