John,
I gave my daughter a Slinky recently and told her to go to the stairs and play with it.
She walked down the stars, bobbing it up and down like a yo-yo. She had no idea it could tumble down the stairs, end-over-end, on its own. Its usability was obvious to me, but foreign to her.

Read on for a deeper exploration of why something that is outwardly simple can actually be quite hard, and feel free to share this blog post with entry-level marketers who are unfamiliar with the term.
