Sherri Harris, born and raised in Houston, found her love of painting late in life. After raising her family, she embarked on a journey and what began as a simple monthly painting group with Houston artist, Joan Moody, suddenly turned into a passion. Over time, she ventured out into the scary world of abstract painting and has never looked back. She has studied under Taos abstract artist, Gwen Fox and California artist, Nicholas Wilton.
"What I love about abstract art is that it comes from within myself and onto to the canvas. It is authentic...what I feel now and what brings life to me, what encourages me all becomes part of my paintings. The colors, the strokes and markings tell the story I wish to tell. My art is always inspired by the beauty of the world around us and a desire to have the viewer pause for a moment and take in the message.
