with Bob WarrenThis rodeo didn't involve bucking broncs or clowns teasing angry bulls. The newly-revived Nutria Rodeo was held this past weekend in Plaquemines Parish, with the goal being to rid the marshes of as many of the invasive rodents as possible. As our Tristan Baurick and Sophia Germer wrote: "It was a bad weekend to be a nutria in south Plaquemines Parish." At least it was for around 1,500 of the critters. In Jefferson Parish investigators are working the bizarre case of a robbery ring in which a group of teens used social media to lure men to a spot in Metairie where waiting gunmen then robbed them. One of the holdups ended with a victim being fatally shot, authorities said. Meanwhile, a Black couple dining at a Metairie steakhouse noticed that a 20% gratuity had been added to their bill and began asking the staff why. The server and a manager said it was standard practice. It wasn't, and the episode resulted in the restaurant owner apologizing and promising staff training for racial sensitivity and bias. Finally, have you been following the story of the two Mandeville women who came up with what they say is a better way to make a bed? They worked their way to a coveted spot on the Shark Tank television show and made their pitch to the potential investors. Did they reel in a shark? All this and much more in today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. BW |
