| 🧑🏻⚕️ State Senator Hoffman awake after surgery for multiple gunshot wounds. Hoffman’s wife says he is stable but not “out of the woods” after the couple was shot Saturday at their home in Champlin. "He took 9 bullet hits. I took 8 and we are both incredibly lucky to be alive,” Yvette Hoffman said on Sunday. 🔍 Suspect in Hortman’s assassination visited international hotspots, has ties to private security firms. Boelter is listed as the CEO of Red Lion Group, which is based in Congo, and he’s listed as a part of the leadership team at Praetorian Guard Security, which provides armed home security in the Twin Cities. 🕯️ Grief, anger prevail in reactions to killing of House DFL leader Hortman. Gov. Tim Walz said “our state lost a great leader, and I lost the dearest of friends. Speaker Hortman was someone who served the people of Minnesota with grace, compassion, humor and a sense of service.” 📄 Friends say Minnesota shooting suspect was deeply religious and conservative. Friends told the AP that they knew Boelter was religious and conservative, but that he didn't talk about politics often and didn't seem extreme. 🪧 Amid warnings from state officials following shootings, crowds show up for ‘No Kings’ rallies in Minnesota. State officials urged people to not attend planned “No Kings” protests across Minnesota. Mourners gathered outside the Minnesota Capitol building Sunday to remember the life of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her spouse, Mark Hortman. 🪖 Tanks and flyovers: Army celebrates its 250th year, Trump celebrates his 79th. The U.S. Army celebrated with a massive military parade that overtook the streets and skies of Washington, D.C. Also celebrating on Saturday was President Trump, who has long dreamed of holding such a display. 🚤 Some Minnesota boaters will need safety training, permit starting July 1. Boaters age 12 to 21 will soon need to get a permit before they can legally operate a motorized watercraft in Minnesota. The state Legislature passed the new safety requirements in 2023. ✈️ Death toll from plane crash in India climbs to 270 as search teams find more bodies. Search and recovery teams continued scouring the site of one of India's worst aviation disasters for a third day after the Air India flight fell from the sky and killed at least 270 people in Gujarat state. 🎙️ As Congress considers public media cuts, here’s how federal dollars are spent in Minnesota. Unlike an earlier executive order that targeted public dollars spent on NPR and PBS, this new bill would rescind funds from local public media stations, too. |
