The Lunch Line: Shorter COVID quarantines? And that was a painful Saints game Monday night

By Bob Warren

Shorter quarantines: As a new wave of COVID cases washes over Louisiana and the U.S., the CDC has announced some major changes in COVID protocols. The biggie: The national agency has cut the recommended quarantine time in half, from 10 days to 5. Here’s what the CDC now says.

(Related: The masks return to Jefferson Parish-government buildings.)

Seeking leads: Following the fatal shooting of a 7-year-old girl in Algiers Sunday night, New Orleans police this morning released an image of a truck that investigators say might have been involved. The shooting has left a community to grieve and a devastated mother to search for answers. Michelle Hunter spoke with her Monday.

'Insulting': The Phillips 66 company plans to close its Alliance Refinery in Plaquemines Parish, putting hundreds of people out of work. United Steelworkers union members say the company's severance offer is an insult.

Saints lose ugly: Bizarre. Frustrating. Ugly. Predictable. So many words can describe the Saints’ loss to the Dolphins in the Caesars Superdome. In any summation, Jeff Duncan writes, the NFL should be embarrassed by the product it forced the COVID-depleted Saints to trot out to a national audience Monday night.

Shameless promo: But one we think has some real value. How about a subscription to NOLA.com? Best deal on the web - $4 for 4 months. Check it out.
