Peer review is an essential activity that must apply to both employed and independent members of a medical staff. Yet many physician leaders and MSPs struggle when it comes to peer review and their employed physicians.

The California Fourth District Court of Appeals (the “Court”) affirmed a Superior Court of Orange County decision finding that the defendants failed to provide any evidence that a department chair’s statements were made in connection to the hospital’s peer review process.

Now that 2018 has officially come to a close, many people are taking the time to look back on the past year, particularly as they begin to set goals for the coming one. The medical staff services department and MSPs are certainly no exception. Medical Staff Briefing spoke with several MSPs who graciously shared some of their greatest achievements and their most difficult challenges in the past year. They also discussed with MSB their aspirations for 2019 and their advice for new MSPs.
