NATIONAL: Independent Venue Week will take place July 12-18, with a series of shows and programming taking place at 200 venues in 41 states. Programming will also include the return of #IVWTalks, a virtual conference series discussing the live music industry, and Get Schooled, a day dedicated to students interested in a career in live music. The event has partnered with the National Independent Venue Association.

The CogXFestival has announced a three-year partnership with virtual platform Hopin to host the CogX Global Leadership Summit and Festival of AI and Transformational Technology. Taking place in Kings Cross, London, from June 14-16, the massive hybrid event expects to draw 100,000 attendees virtually and 5,000 in person, along with 1,000 speakers, over 350 virtual exhibitors, three physical stages and 15 virtual stages. Speakers will include British Airways CEO Sean Doyle, Rolls Royce CEO Warren East and actors Matthew McConaughey and Robert Downey Jr.

CHICAGO: The Pendry Chicago is now open in the Loop neighborhood. A reimagination of the 1920s-era Carbide & Carbon Building, the hotel offers 364 guest rooms and 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space. There’s also a summer rooftop bar, a French brasserie and cafe, a fitness center and a curated art collection featuring works from both international and local artists.

LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board is now the first DMO to partner with CLEAR to utilize the company’s Health Pass for meetings and events. Meeting and event planners booking in L.A. can now receive priority access to Health Pass, a free, mobile experience on the CLEAR app that securely connects a user’s verified identity to COVID-related health information like temperature checks, tests results or vaccination results.

PHILADELPHIA: The Jay-Z curated music festival Made in America will host its 10th-anniversary event on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Sept. 4 and 5. Produced by Roc Nation, this year’s festival will benefit the ACLU of Pennsylvania as its official charity partner. A portion of net proceeds will also support The REFORM Alliance. Since the inaugural two-day concert in 2012, the event has generated over $135 million in economic impact for the city
of Philadelphia.
