| Is the Joseph Smith picture real: Next steps and reaction from historians |

| | Historians are moving forward with plans to validate the now-famous daguerreotype of what could be Joseph Smith. It was found in a family heirloom and released last week. Historically, artists would often stylize portraits, but historians have approached the family with insight on how to verify the image. Not everyone is convinced, however. Based on the photo’s provenance, Smith’s death mask and other factors, some historians still have their doubts. | Utahns are split on the issue of whether or not former President Donald Trump should face criminal charges for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. By the numbers: 93% of Democrats said Trump should face criminal charges. Only 35% of Republicans believe he should be charged.
