Shrunken Nyx. The Zion disconnect. And what's on your Mardi Gras menu?

By Bob Warren

Been following the recent news about Pelicans star Zion Williamson? His relationship with the team, well, how best to describe it? Our beat guy Christian Clark has a deep dive today into the “disconnect” between Zion and the team.

Is Zion's dance with New Orleans over? Here’s columnist Jeff Duncan’s take.

Nyx rolls: There was a time when the Krewe of Nyx parade featured a seemingly never-ending procession of floats packed with a few thousand riders. Wednesday night's edition? Well, it was perhaps reflective of the controversy in which the krewe has been embroiled over the past couple of years.

Mambo menu: Finally, some food news. What's the food that gets you through Mardi Gras? Fried chicken? King cake? Bloody Marys? (The answer, of course, is "yes.")

And the James Beard Awards, a biggie in the restaurant biz, are back after a two-year COVID-driven hiatus. The list of semifinalists, as so often is the case, is full of New Orleans names, our food guy Ian McNulty says.

Hoped you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line newsletter. Thanks for taking a break with us.
