Only 51 Weeks Left In 2020


Dear John,

What do you want to accomplish this year?
Why is this important to you?
 
These are two questions I ask every client before we begin working together. 
 
The second question is more important than the first. Sure, goals must be specific, measurable and realistic but the motivation to achieve them is critical. 
 
When you woke up last week and flipped the page on your calendar you felt a sense of renewal. You had hope. You wanted to seize the opportunity a new year offered. Then you went to work on Monday, and just like the holiday decorations, your excitement and ambition began to come down, only to be packed away for another year. 
 
This happens with your goals related to weight loss, health and fitness, cessation of bad habits, as well as financial and business growth.  
 
The question is, “WHY?”
 
You want results. You want to improve – both personally and in business. You want a better life. So why is it so easy to give up on your goals to make a change?
 
The answer lies in human nature. We are wired to continue down the path we know. The status quo is comfortable. In some cases, even when faced with physical abuse, we choose to remain in our current situation. We have a great fear of uncertainty.  
 
We worry that if we try new things, we will fail spectacularly. We also worry that if we are successful, our social circle will change, and our existing friends and family will not accept us. We worry that we cannot handle the hard work and challenges that lie ahead. 
 
That’s why motivation is so important. If you have a burning desire to be successful, you will press through these feelings and take the steps necessary to be successful. 
 
How do you maintain this motivation that was fresh and present in December?
 
This is the reason people come to see me. Maybe this is the reason you are still reading this. 
 
You want something in your business to change. Maybe you want more profit and more personal income. Maybe you need more free time and don’t know how to employ leverage.  It is common for professionals to build a successful practice that takes up all your time.
