As Lenny Kravitz once sang: "It ain't over till it's over."

Hi there,

Sinclair has had a rough week.

On Monday, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai — who previously did everything he could to pave the way for the Sinclair-Tribune merger — announced his plan to press pause on the deal, pushing it to an administrative hearing at the agency.

Today the FCC released the hearing order — calling out Sinclair for its “sham transactions” and deception, and painting a stark picture for the future of this proposed acquisition.

So what does that all mean? The Sinclair merger is essentially 99.99 percent sunk.

But as Lenny Kravitz once sang: “it ain’t over til it’s over.”

At this point, the writing is on the wall. Sinclair and Tribune should pull the plug on this deal. But since they may not be ready to face facts, we need to step up the pressure and keep fighting until this deal is officially gone.

Could you kick in $5 to help continue the fight?

We have no intentions of stopping once this deal is decided. Sinclair is a deceitful company that forces racist and Islamophobic content into the living rooms of our friends, families and neighbors. To build a better world, we need to keep media empires like this in check.

The FCC’s announcement today creates a serious opening — raising questions about shell companies and other scams that broadcasters have been using for years to get around the media-ownership rules. We’ve long protested these practices and will take advantage of any opportunity we have to shut them down for good.

In fact, if the FCC finds that Sinclair has lied, the agency could even question the company’s fitness to hold any broadcast licenses — not just the ones linked to the merger — due to its unfit moral character.

But to keep going, we need all the help we can get. Donate today to help stop mega-mergers and rein in Sinclair.

We’ll keep you posted as things develop.

Thanks for all that you do—
