I often remind myself of these eloquent words spoken by the late, great, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “A man can’t ride your back unless it’s bent.” This quote fuels me. It makes me aware of the affect perception can have on reception and that attitude can have on outcome. You may not be where you hoped to be in life; but thankfully, your life isn’t over. There is something good in every situation if you will allow the Lord to help you see with His eyes. When you trust the Lord with your circumstances, you will begin to realize you do not walk alone. Sorrow may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning (Ps. 30:5)! With the Lord on your side you can walk through all things knowing He will work everything to your good (Rom. 8:28). You are more than a conqueror through Him (Rom. 8:37)! So put off the slumped-over mindset and allow the Lord to renew your mind (Col. 3:10) and give you a positive, hopeful outlook like that of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (2, p.73, 74, 75)
