Work activities such as moving, loading and unloading vehicles can present some of the most serious risks that organisations need to manage. This course will help delegates understand the legal requirements of both road traffic law and workplace safety law; how and why things go wrong and how they can take practical steps to reduce risk in their organisation. Delegates will be provided with information that will help them to: - understand who is responsible for safety in the transport chain,including what the law says;
- understand what makes somebody a safe driver and how to influence driver behaviour;
- understand their work-related road risk (WRRR) responsibilities and some processes to manage the risk;
- know what good practice is for managing vehicles on site, as well as working at height and the prevention of falls;
- know what good practice is for load securing and the influence this can have on health and safety and WRRR; and
- complete a risk assessment for the loading and transport process.
