On this day in 1982, The Canberra Times reported on the exciting news of the first snowfall in Civic since 1974. Snow fell on the streets of Canberra city centre, with a spokesman for the weather bureau saying that between one and two centimetres had fallen in the "cold outburst". Black Mountain road was closed for several hours as a precaution, however, there were no serious accidents reported there or anywhere else throughout the unusual conditions. READ MORE
