We recognize the growing contribution of sport to the realization of development and peace in its promotion of tolerance and respect and the contributions it makes to the empowerment of women and of young people, individuals and communities as well as to health, education and social inclusion objectives." The United Nations talking about the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace which is April 6th.

This is an important day in the Skateistan calendar as we are a sport for development organization which empowers children, youth, communities, and girls through skateboarding and education. We believe in the power of skateboarding and sport to change the world.

Event Highlight: Skateboarding Competition Today in Kabul

This is a photo from today's event in Kabul - a skateboard competition between students. Everyone at Skateistan loves taking part in a skate competition as it's the chance to show off new tricks and to skate in front of an audience or friends. Many students have found new confidence thanks to skateboarding and would never have imagined they could be part of something like this. It makes us proud to see the competitiveness, confidence and creativity they have developed through being part of our programs and skateboarding.
