Dear reader

The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) has recorded a slight increase in the number of Covid-19 related deaths in the Province in the week to March 12, 2021.

The latest figures published by NISRA show that 30 deaths involving Covid-19 occurred in the week between March 6 and 12, compared to the 22 Covid-19 related deaths in the week to March 5.

The latest daily Covid-19 statistics from the Department of Health meanwhile, show that three more people who tested positive for the virus have died in Northern Ireland. Another 137 positive Covid-19 tests were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Northern Ireland has reached another unfortunate milestone with the first anniversary of the first coronavirus death in Northern Ireland.

Talking about that anniversary Health Minister Robin Swann insisted better days were to come but warned of the threat still posed by the virus. The Covid-linked death of an older man with an underlying health condition was reported on March 19, 2020.

I hope are able to enjoy your weekend in these difficult times.
