Good morning from Bratislava.

Slovak PM Robert Fico presented a classified intelligence services report in parliament suggesting that a “coup d'etat” is underway ahead of upcoming pro-EU protests across the country.

Natália Silenská reports that Slovakia’s extreme right leader – also an admirer of Donald Trump – warned about the occupation of government buildings and clashes with security forces to destabilise the country.

The opposition found the report’s content ridiculous, as it was based on a ChatGPT-generated e-mail, which the protests' organisers then made public.

Meanwhile, Slovak psychiatrists have already sounded the alarm over Fico’s behaviour.

Some parliamentarians drew parallels with totalitarian practices applied in communist Czechoslovakia and fear a crackdown. One could say Europe's "little Trumps" are now feeling empowered.

Meanwhile, the names of the MEPs who will sit on two special committees on housing and the European Democracy Shield were seen by Euractiv ahead of the official announcement.

The suspect is an Afghan asylum seeker who was due to leave the country, according to local authorities. German media reported that he had a history of mental health problems.

The incident comes in the middle of a national election campaign and is the latest in a series of deadly attacks in Germany in recent months.
