What if we all drive electric cars?
Smart algorithm avoids power shortages

Electric vehicles are gaining popularity.
In order to avoid peak consumption when too many cars charge at the same time,
imec researchers are developing a smart system that coordinates a group of electric vehicles and decides which one starts its charging session.

Imec’s self-learning algorithm analyzes data generated by charging stations.
In the long run it will also take into account the variable nature of renewable energy.
