My PC is a mess

Q: Following the most recent Windows 10 updates, my desktop started locking up after sitting idle for 30 to 45 minutes. The displays froze, the USB mouse froze, the Bluetooth keyboard froze. The only way to regain control was to do a power cycle reboot. Help!

A: I totally get the frustration, and my inbox is always filled with messages from people like you who are trying to work through annoying tech problems. You can't always wait to talk to me on my show, so I partnered with a company that can be there for you when you need help.

You can get Solve iQ’s expert tools and support for only $9.99 a month — and you can cancel any time. You can call as much as you want, and they're so helpful. It’s the next best thing to having me come to your home! To get started, visit SolveiQ.com/Kim today.

Worried about my data cap

Q: I am thinking about getting SimpliSafe for my home but do not have unlimited internet. If I get this system, along with a few cameras, how much data will I be using up on a monthly basis before my general use? And will it slow down my computer or smart television?

A: SimpliSafe cameras record only when triggered. Different events have different recording times, and the data used also depends on video quality. Here's an example. Say you had a break-in that lasted 5 minutes. With the default quality (720p), that recording would typically be about 30 MB.

You'd need to have several full alarms every single day for a month to reach a gigabyte of data. Allow about 10 MB a day per camera. All the other components run on cellular that's included with the monthly monitoring bill.

Visit SimpliSafeKim.com to get a free HD security camera, with free shipping and a 60-day, money-back guarantee.

Need help choosing a laptop

Q: I'm so ready for a new computer, but I don't know where to start. What's a good laptop that will last me a long time?

A: I love the Dell XPS 13. It has a fabulous 13.3-inch screen with no bezel, a great keyboard deck, and power from Intel’s 11th-gen CPUs. And yep, it's on sale. Dell's President's Day sales are here, but they won't last long.

Check out the sales here, then call 877-ASK-DELL to find technology that can help your small business.
