Dear John

Years ago I was having a conversation with Don Sherman who was a Special Agent with the FBI at that time. Don was also on the SWAT team and had all of the gear and training that goes along with that position. I asked Don how they were able to go in so fast to rescue hostages.

I will never forget his answer:

“We never go in fast. Fast will get you killed. We train to go in smooth. Smooth means we are moving efficiently and effectively as a team. Everyone knows their role. Smooth means we have each other's backs and no one is unnecessarily exposed to either friendly or hostile fire.”

I think this is a lesson we can apply to all areas of life and especially in business.
