Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood Is Flawed but Left Me Longing for a New Reality

Michelle Krusiec and Laura Harrier in A Hollywood Ending (2020)
So often in alternate universe/history, the norm is to go for the most extreme negative version of reality. What if Nazis won WWII? What if the South won the Civil War? Well in Ryan Murphy's latest endeavor, Hollywood, he instead asks: What if Hollywood had been more progressive following WWII?

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 04: U.S. Vice President Mike Pence listens during a briefing on the Trump administration's coronavirus response in the press briefing room of the White House on March 04, 2020 in Washington, DC. Officials took questions on a range of issues related to the spread of the coronavirus in the U.S. (Photo by Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images)
Even though Mike Pence decidedly did not do it, it still rubs me the wrong way that he "jokingly" asked if he should lift empty boxes for the camera because I do not personally put it past this administration to not do something like that.
