MPR News PM Update

Good morning,

A blast of wintry weather rakes Minnesota the rest of this week. First, snow. Next, wind. Then another shot of subzero cold. More on today's winter storm below.

Expect snow and wind to be vigorous today. Wind gusts to 50 mph and blowing snow will cause whiteout conditions across parts of western and southern Minnesota at times Wednesday.

If you're planning to drive today, be very careful as the road conditions are very dangerous for travel through Wednesday.

We'll see snow totals up to 8 inches by the end of the day. Make sure to follow along with the latest weather news on our Severe Weather live blog and check out the forecast analysis on Updraft.

What else we're watching:
A panel of judges weighs in on remapping Minnesota's congressional districts. The panel met Tuesday to hear from lawyers representing people who are trying to influence the once-a-decade process through litigation and their own proposed maps.

As we approach the anniversary of the chaotic day at the U.S. Capitol, teachers now are left to decide how — or whether — to instruct their students about the events that sit at the heart of the country’s division. And the lessons sometimes vary based on whether they are in a red state or a blue state.
