Good morning,

The Greens and SNP are poised to seal a deal as the Scottish Cabinet prepares to meet this morning to discuss the terms of the co-operation agreement.

In May, Nicola Sturgeon told MSPs talks would begin on a co-operation agreement between the two parties, which would act to formalise the majority in favour of independence, while also ensuring they work together on specific policy positions.

The talks appear to be winding down, with an email sent to Green members saying the wording of the deal would be provided to them by today.

We'll have more on this through the day on our homepage.

Meanwhile, Stirling, Dundee, Perthshire, Angus and Fife are to compete against a cross-border bid in a contest to crown the UK’s next culture capital.

The Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway hope to make the shortlist for the UK City of Culture title by joining forces with Carlisle, Cumbria and Northumberland.
