Good morning reader,

It's Saturday at last and from here in Edinburgh at least, it looks like it's going to be a nice day.

Only a day to go until the Scotland-Ireland match kicks off at Murrayfield, but before you start the pre-rugby festivities, take a few minutes to have a look at the rest of the news.

Speculation that the UK Government could cut funding for the much-talked of Acorn carbon capture and storage project has caused fury in the SNP, with Westminster leader Stephen Flynn branding it a "complete betrayal".

Also on our website is a thought-provoking piece by political correspondent Rachel Amery, who discusses whether one of Scotland's best-known rivers should be given the legal rights of a person.

We also have the latest on the tragic story of Scots woman Dawn Searle and her husband found dead in their home in France.

Whatever you're doing today, have a good one.
