So, about that LSU infield; plus a rare SEC championship; a rare feat on the track

Good morning, all, and happy Saturday.

Fresh off a three-game sweep last weekend, the LSU baseball team headed to Arkansas with a chance to make a big statement.

So far, it hasn’t worked out well. The Tigers were shut out Friday afternoon, suffering their second straight loss. Here’s where things stand:

Baseball

Here’s how to watch and listen to LSU’s weekend finale Saturday at Arkansas. While you wait, beat writer Leah Vann filed this story on the Tigers’ infield defense — specifically, their plan to keep improving on weak spots.

Football

We’ll have more on the Tigers’ spring scrimmage Saturday, as well as a profile on new cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples. So check in with us throughout the weekend for more football coverage.

Softball

The top of LSU’s lineup drove in four runs in a 7-3 win over South Carolina on Friday. The teams finish their series Saturday at Tiger Park.

Track and field

LSU's Favour Ofili made her first 200-meter race of the outdoor season one to remember Friday night in Gainesville, Florida, setting a collegiate record.

Golf

LSU junior Ingrid Lindblad won LSU’s first individual SEC championship in 31 years with an eagle three on the final hole Friday at the Southeastern Conference women’s golf championships.

We’ll have more LSU coverage throughout the weekend, so stick with us.

Thank you for reading,

The LSU beat team (Scott Rabalais, Sheldon Mickles, Leah Vann and Wilson Alexander)
