Hey, Rachelle here...

I've been sending you a few emails about open enrollment for Schoolhouse, the online art membership for kids.

If you're thinking of joining us, but maybe on the fence, I'm popping over to answer some common questions. If you have more q's, email me back or check out the FAQ at the bottom of the enrollment page.

With the February 4 enrollment deadline coming soon, I'll get right to it.

🤔What are your art projects like?

We'll tinker and create with things like printmaking, weaving, drawing, painting, science explorations, design and engineering challenges, toy making, and more.

With a goal to help kids think like artists and inventors, we focus on open-ended making, process, exploration, art experiments, inventing, and creative play. We offer kids room to try new things and follow curiosities.

Each project comes with an activity PDF and a short-format video (roughly 5 minutes) that's easy to watch and pause. There are no ads, so you can feel safe if you want to give your child access to the extensive video library.

🤔We homeschool: Can this help us?

Our homeschool members tell us Schoolhouse is beneficial tool in their curriculum toolbox. The open-ended nature of the projects makes them age diverse, so you can easily apply one lesson to children of different ages. And, it's flexible and easy to tailor to your needs or your child's interests.

🤔How much time will this take?

Being a time-stretched parent is one of the reasons I created this program…so that you can get straight to the fun stuff without all the stress.

We'll give you two sets of calendars to get you organized. One is monthly, and syncs the membership right to your Google or Outlook calendar, and the other is a weekly PDF with supply lists that you can save to your desktop or print for the fridge. Then you'll pick a project, set the table with materials, invite your child to create, and step back and watch their imagination soar. You can establish an art habit in as little as 30 minutes a week.

If you did just one project a week, you’d have 52 art experiences under your belt by the year’s end.

Wouldn’t that feel amazing?

🤔How will this engage my child?”

Have you ever had your child walk away from an elaborate project after maybe 19 seconds? Yeah, me too.

But those days are over. 🎉

We bake two things into our program to increase engagement (but you know, kids are kids) 🤷

1. You'll learn how to support your child’s creative journey in The Engaged Maker Blueprint (the success path course that's included with your membership) where you’ll learn how to talk with your child about their art and how to set up projects that are lasting!

2. With TinkerLab projects, the child is always in the lead, so they'll naturally have agency and motivation to keep going.

Can you imagine the feeling of having your child occupied for three hours?

One member said that's exactly what happened when they were making artist trading cards with us...

🤔What age is this for?

Schoolhouse is designed for children 3-8, but my 11-year old wants you to know that she’s a dedicated member and believes older kids and adults will get a lot out of the program, too! 😉

Early childhood is an important developmental time for creative and imaginative play, and we want to give our youngest learners every opportunity to explore and invent while exercising curiosity, agency, and imagination.

If you have a mix of older and younger children, this program is a double/triple/quadruple win, with the benefits that you only have to set up one project rather than different activities for each child, and you only need ONE membership.

🤔How is this different from searching YouTube or the internet for art projects?

We love the internet as much as anyone, but if you're tired of collecting random ideas online, want your time back, and specifically want open-ended creative activities, we've simplified the curation process for you. With Schoolhouse, you'll just drop into your hub, pick a project, or better yet, have your child pick one, and you’re ready to go. Not only that, you'll find a thoughtful curriculum designed to help you build a creative habit, weekly plans, supply lists, simple prompt guides, and a community to support you along the way.

Evelyne has been a Schoolhouse member since the beginning, and shares how it contributes to her family's creative habit:

Join the annual plan and you'll get two months free, or join the quarterly plan and get a month free month.

All in all, you'll get access to 250+ art explorations for just $1/day.
