Ever been stood at the home bar making your cocktails, wondering, just how can I take these up a notch? Or even at a bar, looking down the classic cocktails list and just not sure which one is truly for you? Not to worry, all your cocktail questions can be answered at London Cocktail Week, which runs from October 1 - 31 and The Essence House that runs October 1 - 24. It’s a big week, both in length and occasion – the biggest, in fact, London has ever had. The Woodstock 69 of cocktail festivals, perhaps, though a little more sophisticated.
The Essence House is a good first-stop for the aficionados among you. They’re running a two-floor experience designed to help you learn more about all things cocktail mixology. On the top floor, you’ll find a one-hour multi-sensory exploration of how our palates work (with specific focus on your personal palate, no less!). From texture and mouthfeel to just how sweet and sour, whether you’re a vodka base or bourbon, it’ll all be revealed. At the end, you’ll not only be able to make your own amazing concoctions, but you’ll have a new-found confidence when ordering off the menu forevermore.
When you’re done with the learning, unwind downstairs with a bespoke menu curated especially for the event. Some of the signature drinks come from the UK and Europe's finest cocktail bars. No more “Porn Star Martini please” here. Just pure, refined, indulgent sipping. Cheers.
