Grades of Green Students are SOARing
The Soar Green Leadership Academy is a forward-thinking program that empowers motivated high school students to lead with an environmental mindset focusing on creating systemic change. With Grades of Green mentorship, students collaborate with corporate partners to learn how industries operate sustainably and develop creative solutions to tackle corporate and industry-wide environmental issues.

Come join us for our "Sustain-a-Thon" event on June 4th at Subaru Pacific to meet our amazing SOAR students and learn about the incredible sustainability plans they have been working on. They can't wait to share their innovative ideas. Keep a lookout for the details coming soon!
SOAR Students Took Flight With This Year's Corporate Partners
Veggie Grill
Lazy Acres
T. K. Pillan, CEO and founder of Veggie Grill, met with SOAR students to share his story, adventures, and some entrepreneurial tips, including our favorite: never stray from your purpose! Plus, they got to enjoy the plant-based fruits of his labors. YUM!
Lazy Acres Markets is dedicated to their local communities and is the marketplace for anyone who loves to live and eat healthily. Students were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of this sustainable grocery store and scored a sampling of some delicious & healthy delights.
West Basin
Paneros
The West Basin Municipal Water District provided a tour of the reclaimed-water facility. The Soar students learned about the science of cleaning water of microbes, sediment, and bacteria so it can be used as gray water. Plus, they heard about the many career opportunities in the water industry!
SOAR students were inspired by Lauren Decarli's story of founding Paneros Clothing, an eco-friendly, sustainable women’s fashion brand. They learned about the negative impacts of fast fashion and the intricate details of creating her own sustainable fashion line.

Galaxy’s Green Egg (sans ham) Hunt
LA Galaxy Foundation held its 15th Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Earth Day Celebration with Grades of Green offering environmental games and upcycled crafts to over 1000 kids in attendance. It was awesome and inspiring to see the knowledge of the 6-year-olds who knew how long it takes for chip bags to decompose: "NEVER." If you didn’t know the answer, donate here, and we’ll make sure to educate more students and adults with your support!
Go Kings Go Green!
Puck drop!! Emma C, a 6th grader from Mary Bragg Elementary, last year's winner of the RISE Environmental Impact Grand Prize, hit the ice to kick off the LA Kings matchup against the Colorado Avalanche on April 8th in honor of their Green Game. Students, teachers, and parents showed up to support Emma and the LA King's sustainability efforts, including participating in an equipment drive to collect used sports gear to get recycled. Emma also interviewed on national TV, talking about her project with Grades of Green and the impacts her school has made for the environment. Nice score, Emma!
