The CEO at my former company amused me. He tried to be friendly, but he was a bit socially awkward and had some trouble chatting with the staff. He was fine with the executives but tongue-tied with the rest of us. If he came into the kitchen while folks were getting coffee, many heads would immediately get buried in their phones. And then I came to SmartBrief and met our CEO Rick Stamberger. Polar opposite to my former CEO. Rick is friendly, warm and has zero ego. He’s whip smart and has a knack for storytelling. He’s comfortable with all types of people. Best of all, he’s the type of leader who makes everyone around him look good. If Rick is a basketball player, he’s the one who dishes the ball off so someone else can score. He doesn’t need to be the star. Rick excels at what today’s CEOs need: social skills. We see this in today’s top story that talks about how the pandemic has redefined the workplace. It’s not enough for members of the C-suite to be wizards at business and hole themselves up in their offices. They must demonstrate their ability to nurture and maintain relationships with those who work for them. They must be human. How can I serve you better with this brief? Let me know! And if you enjoy this brief, tell others so they can benefit also.
